Photographing Big Sur in Black and White

In 2013 I spent a day traveling the Big Sur coastline of California and it was just waaayyy too short. I could spent a month there just poking around with my camera. Clearly I'm not the only one. Here an ambitious photographer is seen against the backdrop of the Pacific.

The Last bit of Sun Hits Mt. Hood and Wild Clouds

I had a great time in Oregon this week. One afternoon and evening I spent focused on Mt. Hood. Here the last bit of setting sun hits Mt. Hood and lights up the underside of these strange bubbling clouds. A few minutes after this it started to rain. It lasted for about 15 minutes then blew through. Shot from from Trillium Lake.

Just to the right of center below the sun you can see the Vista House, an observatory at Crown Point in Multnomah County, Oregon, that also serves as a memorial to Oregon pioneers and as a comfort station for travelers on the Historic Columbia River Highway. This shot was taken from Portland Women's Forum State Scenic Viewpoint.

Tankhanncok Viaduct Fall Foliage

The Tunkhannock Creek Viaduct, also known as the Nicholson Bridge or sometimes as the Tunkhannock Viaduct, was built by the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad (DL&W) in 1912 and was completed, dedicated and ready for use on November 6, 1915.

Louvre Pyramid and Reflecting Pool in Black and White

In 2016 I took my daughters to Paris for Christmas. Since I have my conference in Austin coming up and I’m traveling to Austin next week and I'm not traveling currently, I thought I'd re-examine some of those shots. I don't do a lot of black and white but this seemed to work out well. My daughters were very patient with me while we stood around at night and I shot. Thank you daughters.

Bluebonnets and Lightning #1

Yesterday evening, as the storms rolled through Texas I was shooting photos at the popular #Bluebonnet House in Marble Falls. As the sunset, lightning could be seen in the distance. It was beautiful to watch. Photographers come from all over to shoot this house and the bluebonnets but few get a shot like this one. #lightning #bluebonnets #marblefalls
